Biography

Born on July 1973, in Lisbon, Portugal.

Worked for a few years in the fashion business, as product manager of a prestigious sportswear brand.

His commitment with photography came subsequently: on 2004, passion and hobby tangled in a solid and promising relation, when Gonçalo  enrolled himself in the Professional Photography Course at the “Portuguese Photography Institute - IPF”, in Lisbon.

After graduating, in March 2006, he did an internship at "24 Horas" newspaper, until moving to Chile, where he took a diploma on photography at the “Pontifical Catholic University - UC”.

He won an award at the bi-national contest "Here and there", sponsored by the “Portuguese Photography Institute - IPF” and the brazilian “National Commercial Studies Service – SENAC”.

Gonçalo’s professional  interests focus mainly in wildlife / nature, photojournalism, studio, sports and documentary categories, using the lens as an extension of himself and enclosure of the surrounding reality.
